This and That and Bike Week

It's an amazing Sunday afternoon here in central Florida. Beautiful. The weather is perfect - sunny, a blue sky, a small enough chill in the air that you can wear a groovy scarf and it rained yesterday so everything is extra green.

I started monitoring my food and exercise. It's not the D word that most women loathe - it's just eating healthier and being cognizant about exercising. I didn't stay within my goal twice this week but that's okay because it's only my first week. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track food and exercise. I love this because it's easy and it's free. It just takes planning and I love the kind of awareness that comes with really looking at the nutritional content of foods.

I can't believe that tonight is the season finale of the Walking Dead. This is the first season that I've watched in real time because I hadn't had cable in so long. Thank goodness for TV on DVD and season marathons. I really hope that none of the main characters die off. Especially Daryl.

I slept in this morning. Really slept in. I've only been awake for an hour and it's 12:41 p.m. My day includes lots of cleaning, a walk around a lake, 30 minutes on my stationary bike and giving my dog a bath. I love cleaning and now that I know I burn 243 calories an hour, it's even better!

I am not participating in the A to Z Challenge this year. I had the past two years and really enjoyed it. I just don't have it in me this year. I am still adjusting to my new job and the move. My creativity has been off balance. I just started getting back into photography again after a few months. Writing is still on hold. Here are a few new photos from a spontaneous trip to Daytona Beach during Bike Week. I love Bike Week - if you're observant enough, you can see life and humanity and beauty all around you.

  2. Hey Jaime! Where did you move to? You might remember, I'm in central FL too. I'm doing the a-z this year, but I'm not sure I'll do it again. After 3 years, I'm seeing so many of the same blogs on the link list, and new ones are just not interesting, or very well done. I'm always working on diet and exercise too!!

  3. You are absolutely right - beauty is all around us and I think the more we try to better ourselves, the more aware we become. Carol at http://batteredhope.blogspot.com

  4. We miss you at the Challenge, but I'm glad you're making the rounds to some of the blogs. Those photos really tell a story, don't they? Monitoring health is a good thing. I don't do anything with the word "die" in it, so the D word is not even listed in my vocabulary.

  5. I thought you were doing a-z, thought that's how I found you the first time? Did you start and change your mind such that I found you on the list? No matter, I'm here anyway and see we have something else besides blogging in common. I'm trying to be aware of what I'm eating, and trying to be more active. Last physical they told me my cholesterol was too high. I love milk and cheese...these could a problem, but am floored how much it jumped in one year considering I'm not really doing anything differently. He told me to watch my diet...not even sure how to go about doing that frankly, I'm thin and don't need to loose weight. I'm probably not as active as I used to be so am trying to walk daily if I'm not at work. My work is very physical, I'm on my feet moving all the time when at work, which makes my arthritic knee swell...so on those days I don't walk. My job is very erratic, last week I worked all 5 days this week it will be 3 days, and some weeks I don't work at all....hard to have an even keel about things. I loaded several different apps on my phone and Ipad to help monitor what I ate and my activity and found them to be either not user friendly or you only had a 2wk trial then you had to purchase etc. So, am going to try the one you mentioned. I was using FitDay but found it really time consuming and difficult. Send some sunshine, we're having another gray ugly day here in Central Ohio, waiting for the snow they say will come tomorrow...............seriously that puts me in a bad mood.

    1. Hi, Sandy - No A to Z this year - I just didn't have the energy:) I'll definitely send some sunshine. It's actually been very warm & summery in Florida. We were in the high 80's today!
