Forgotten Simple Experiences

Today was a day of relaxation and chilling out.  I had totally forgotten how awesome the following experiences are:

  1. Taking an afternoon nap.  I slept for about two hours under the covers, in my clothes with the cold wind blowing through my bedroom window.  It was a wonderful nap full of vivid dreams and gratefulness for actually being able to fall asleep during the day.
  2. Eating breakfast without caring about the nutritional content.  My husband and I went out to a local cafe for breakfast and I ordered a side of sausage gravy for my biscuit.  It was awesome.  Really, really awesome.
  3. Losing myself in a movie I really love.  I bought Breaking Dawn Part 2 today and watched the movie as well as the documentary about the making of the movie.  I might have to watch them again tomorrow.  I lose myself in these stories.  Three hours feels like 15 minutes.  I love losing track of time when savoring something very enjoyable.
  4. Eating a no pressure dinner.  I made baked sweet potatoes, steamed green beans, salad and fish for dinner.  I just let everything sit on the counter and we ate when we were hungry.  Not at the same time, just on our own while my husband and I did our own thing.
Next on the list is putting the computers away, turning off the Internet, watching a ghost movie and indulging in a Carmelo bar and a glass of Cabernet.  Don't you love rediscovering simple experiences?

  1. Sometimes we need to chill to recover from life. If I don't do it, regularly, I'm not much good to others.

It is the simple pleasures that mean so much.

    1. Yes, I agree. Naps are great reminders that we need to take care of ourselves so we can help others. Have a relaxing Sunday.

  2. The simple experience of walking send me into a dreamland. I need a walker to do this. I hold on tight to the handles and push four wheels uphill beside a busy narrow road. On the opposite side, tall trees partly obscure a wide field. Yesterday horses roamed alongside. Not racehorses, but animals with broad hairy hooves and uncombed manes. Birds twitter and dive overhead and I sometimes catch sight of a rabbit.

    1. This is beautiful. I will be enjoying the simple pleasure of walking and savoring nature as long as God allows me to, even when I need a walker too. It's nice to know there are others in the world who appreciate the simple things in life. Happy Sunday.

  4. I did the same thing recently...took a long nap in my clothes under the covers. So wonderful. All your experiences are things I love too....simple dinner, a good movie. Sense and Sensibility is my go-to movie when I want to nest. :-)

    1. I love Sense and Sensibility. I haven't seen it in so long. One of my main go-to movies is Hitchcock's Rear Window. I absolutely love Grace Kelly.
