Embracing the Eternal Life

For years I have been fearful of death.  I felt like death was this huge void and I was almost paralyzed by my fear.  I just couldn't grasp the meaning of life knowing that death is coming.  I felt very alone and there was this hollowness deep inside of me.

Things changed when I reconnected with God.  I didn't have an epiphany or vision.  As my faith in God became stronger, so did my understanding of life and death.  Being here on earth is sort of like studying abroad.  I'm learning, doing good work, having fun, meeting wonderful people and then, whenever God sees fit, it will be my time to go home.  Going home.  This is how I embrace the eternal life.  It brings me a sense of peace.  Life is so full of wonder.  I absolutely believe that life is eternal.  There's too much beauty in the world for there not to be.

Blue Sky
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

  1. So glad you have found peace about this. I, too, know that this life is just a pit stop. God bless you.

  2. What a beautiful post. Yes, this life is just the sowing stage, and the actual reaping will come later when we "go home" in your words.

  4. Jaime,
What a powerful post and your words are so true...We don't fear what we understand! This has also given me a different outlook of others who die-it's tragic but not in a paralyzing sense...
    Great E word...

  5. Fear comes from not knowing. Knowing that after this life is eternity with God, takes away (at least some of)the fear of death.

    Love this post!

  8. Stopping by, thanks to the awesome A to Z challenge! Your posts have been quite an inspiration. I love your idea of an authentic life-- I'm along a similar journey myself-- I was a teacher, but had to give it up because of chronic pain. Now I'm living as an artist, and I absolutely LOVE it, but it is not always easy.

I think it's awesome that you and I are close-ish in age. I'm in my late 20's, and so many bloggers online are so much older than that!

You have a great style of writing, and I think your A to Z posts are quite special. Thank you for sharing your soul <3

  10. "being here on earth is sort of like studying abroad" - I really like that! I too am a sojourner, looking forward to eternal life and seeing Jesus. Love discovering other believers as I work my way thru the A-Z blogger list! I'm a new follower on your blog too.

  11. Beautiful post. I don't fear death so much as I am concerned about the way I go. I don't want a prolonged uncomfortable struggle like I've watched some who have had to deal with something like that.
Death is the passage to our next greatest adventure.
